A Life-Changing Outdoor Adventure with WildLife Partners
This week, youth from the Portland Tidechangers Chapter of Majesty Outdoors experienced something most people only see in documentaries — a real-life wildlife safari in South Texas.
Thanks to the generous team at WildLife Partners, 16 Tidechangers and their mentors were invited to visit the WildLife Partners Pettus Ranch, where they spent the day learning about wildlife conservation, land stewardship, and the incredible diversity of exotic animals that live on the ranch.
For many of the youth, it was the first time they had ever seen exotic wildlife in person.
And it was an experience they will never forget.
A Unique Wildlife Conservation Experience for Youth
Hosted by Katie Leibold, Kelsey Jackson, and Mandee Scherer, the Tidechangers were guided across the ranch where they encountered more than 25 species of exotic wildlife.
As the group explored the vast South Texas landscape, they saw animals roaming freely across the ranch — a powerful reminder of how conservation-focused ranching helps protect wildlife populations.
The WildLife Partners team shared how responsible land management and conservation efforts help support endangered and exotic wildlife species around the world.
For the Tidechangers, it was more than just seeing incredible animals.
It was a chance to learn how people can actively participate in protecting wildlife and preserving natural habitats.
Outdoor Mentorship That Changes Lives
At Majesty Outdoors, outdoor experiences are intentionally designed to do more than provide fun activities.
They are meant to build confidence, character, leadership, and life skills.
Programs like Tidechangers connect fatherless youth with mentors who guide them through outdoor adventures like:
Fishing
Kayaking
Archery
Hunting education
Wildlife conservation experiences and so much more
When youth step into environments they’ve never experienced before, it helps expand their vision of what their future can look like.
Throughout the day, mentors walked alongside the youth, answering questions, encouraging curiosity, and helping them soak in every moment of the adventure.
These shared experiences create bonds that often last a lifetime.
The Impact of Mentorship and Nature
For youth growing up without a father figure, experiences like this carry even deeper meaning.
They remind these young men and women that they are valued, supported, and surrounded by people who believe in their potential.
Outdoor mentorship has a unique way of opening hearts and minds.
Nature slows things down.
It creates space for conversation, learning, and personal growth.
And sometimes, a single experience like this can spark a lifelong passion for wildlife, conservation, or the outdoors.
